In order to play these licks properly using the
alternate picking method, you need to keep the
right hand in a constant up/down motion, even when
not picking a note. That way the swing of your hand
kind of acts like a metronome keeping the notes in time.
I've used letters to indicate what the right hand should
be doing.
"D"- picked downstroke
"U"- picked upstroke
"d"- unpicked downstroke
"u"- unpicked upstroke
So when playing, the speed of the right hand should
not change at all during the lick. You'll notice the
first lick has 4 sets of triplets-there's two notes played
for each downstroke
I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll
try to explain it better!
