Calypso Chords
by Spiderbait
Calypso by Spiderbait is a more advanced guitar song played in the key of G. It uses the chords G, B, A5, C5, D5, E5, Ab5 and Gb5. Use the transpose and diagram tools on this page to change the key, see each shape, or simplify the chords.

The previous tabs had the chord progressions wrong and were incomplete
because they didn't tab the 2nd riff which I hope I've tabbed correctly.
Below, I've transcribed how I think it's played. Listen to the song to see
what order it's played in.
Riff 1 (played 1st and 3rd times):
e---0--------2--------0--------2-----
B-----2--------3--------0--------3---
G-2-----2--2-----2--1-----1--2-----2-
D------------------------------------
A------------------------------------
E------------------------------------
The above riff is played with pick and the 2nd (middle) and
3rd (ring) fingers such that the pick plays the G string, the
2nd finger the B string and the 3rd finger the e string.
Alternatively, you could use just fingers with thumb, index
and middle fingers but it makes changing to chords difficult.
Chord prog. 1:
A5 C5 D5 E5
G-----5-5-7-7-9-9-
D-7-7-5-5-7-7-9-9-
A-7-7-3-3-5-5-7-7-
E-5-5-------------
Chord prog. 2:
A5 Ab5 Gb5 E5
G-----------------
D-7-7-6-6-4-4-2-2-
A-7-7-6-6-4-4-2-2-
E-5-5-4-4-2-2-0-0-
Chord prog. 3:
D5 E5 A5
G-7-7-9-9-----
D-7-7-9-9-7-7-
A-5-5-7-7-7-7-
E---------5-5-
Riff 2 (played 2nd time):
A5 D5 E5 D5
G-----------7-------9-------7-----
D---7---------7-------9-------7---
A-----7---5-----5-7-----7-5-----5-
E-5-----5-------------------------
Whit often doesn't play the above riff live but just strums the chords.
